We had several minutes of mediocre back massage with no aromatherapy oil. The scrub was very rough, our backs are now red and sore.. with scabs forming on the damaged skin. And oh, we asked for female staff, turned out to be a male. We couldn't tell as we had no chance to see the person assigned to us until at the end of massage when they told us to get dressed. Very horrible experience! I've had one before- at Kabuki- it was very nice, sort of a passive yoga class, and the masseuse talked with me and checked in constantly. Here I had an extremely painful massage, the first half of which was just a woman walking my back, my legs, with a lot of weight while I lay face down breathing- when I could breathe at all, because she was crushing my chest- through a donut set on the table.

Having lived in Asia for 16 years, I knew exactly what I was looking for. What I got was a massage. Susan listened when I explained that I only wanted my legs and feet worked on. However in reflexology you are laying back in a big chair, think maybe a lounge chair, and the therapist spends most of the session on the various pressure points in your feet. Here you are laying on your stomach with your head in a faceplate. She did work on my feet too, but not enough. It was a lovely massage, just not reflexology! The bed was heated and it was heaven on my sore muscles. The spa is tranquil and spotless. Matt who was at the desk, was a Budhist monk his sense of peace reigns supreme.
